leaving lessons

I watch their end in vibrant marvel
brilliant hues marking their death
I dance in their departure
effortlessly descending from their source
I inhale their sweet scent
emanating fragrance as they're pressed
I aspire to leave this life
with such beauty, aroma and grace

thick, strong, growing deep, imparting rich legacy
twisting, tangling below the earth, guiding moral character
delicate tendrils still reaching out, growing ever stronger
some day a new life will germinate, and draw from these ancestral roots
